As the LSU Football program enters a transitional period, our alumni enter the home stretch of a weird season. This has been one of the most brutal years of injuries since I’ve been doing these recaps,
so the end of this season can’t come soon enough. Most of our biggest stars won’t be playing in the playoffs, but we at least have a few highlights to enjoy. Let’s break each game down.
Cowboys 30 at Lions 44
Miles Frazier played 26 snaps, his first as a pro. Lions fans were very impressed and his head coach has discussed the possibility of him starting soon.
NFLSU Score: 2/10
Dolphins 34 at Jets 10
Mason Taylor led the Jets with five catches and led the the game with 51 yards.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Bengals 34 at Bills 39
For the first time in over a calendar year, the Bengals lost a game Joe Burrow started. For 80 percent of it, he was doing everything he could, dropping dimes during a blizzard.
Last week’s win over the Ravens showed Joe keeping drives alive, but only getting in the end zone twice. On Sunday, we saw college Joe. He was in the Matrix.
The thing is, with the Bengals defense on the other side, Joe needed to be perfect to win. Up 3 in the fourth, Joe was hit by disaster with back-to-back interceptions on deflections. Still, he kept battling and finished with one of his most impressive statlines in awhile: 25/36 for 284 yards, 4 TDs, 2 INTs, and for the second week in a row, just one sack.
Ja’Marr Chase had a moderate day by his standards, with 44 yards on five catches. On the Bills side, Tre’Davious White had three tackles and Reid Ferguson long snapped.
At 4-9, the Bengals are now assured their first losing season since Joe Burrow’s turbulent rookie year. While the possibility of a late playoff push was fun (and entirely plausible) it’s probably for the best if we see some wholesale changes in Cincy this offseason. Three straight years without the Joe-Ja’Marr connection in the playoffs pains my soul.
NFLSU Score: 9/10
Steelers 27 at Ravens 22
Patrick Queen had seven tackles against his former team. Emery Jones didn’t play because the Ravens like losing apparently.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Saints 24 at Buccaneers 20
Foster Moreau caught one pass for 16 yards. Davon Godchaux had four tackles and Deion Jones had one.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Colts 19 at Jaguars 36
Brian Thomas Jr. caught three passes for a game-high 87 yards, and all three of them were spectacular.
2025 LSU wide receivers couldn’t catch a 40-yard pass with boths hands… look at what we used to have, man.
Maason Smith had one tackle.
NFLSU Score: 6/10
Titans 31 at Browns 29
Lloyd Cushenberry was already out, meaning the Battle of LSU Centers was already not happening, but it got infinitely worse when Ethan Pocic tore his achilles. Was a goddamn awful year, man.
Grant Delpit had five tackles and Arden Key had three. Let’s cheer up from the Pocic news by watching Grant Delpit be surprised by his mom to announce his nomination for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
NFLSU Score: 3/10
Commanders 0 at Vikings 31
Jayden Daniels returned from injury, and boy he should not have. After 20 passes attempts and four rushes, Jayden’s non-throwing arm injury was re-aggravated, forcing him out of the game again. This miserable sophomore season is frankly how I thought Jayden’s rookie year would go. This is the ninth game Jayden has missed time in, due to FOUR separate injuries. Much like Joe’s lost season, the franchise needs a hard reset to make sure their star QB is on the field consistently in 2026.
This game gets worse. Even when JJ McCarthy plays a good game, we don’t get to enjoy Justin Jefferson, who only caught two passes for 11 yards. Wow.. I HATE this game! Jay Ward’s two tackles and one pass breakup won’t change my mind!
NFLSU Score: 0.00000000001/10
Seahawks 37 at Falcons 9
Anthony Bradford blocked.
NFLSU Score: 1/10
Broncos 24 at Raiders 17
Devin White led the game (by a large margin) with 19 tackles, while Jamal Adams had one. Jack Bech led the Raiders with six catches for 50 yards.
NFLSU Score: 6/10
Bears 21 at Packers 28
Great game, but we do not care.
NFLSU Score: 0/10
Rams 45 at Cardinals 17
Omar Speights’ six tackles tied for a team-high. BJ Ojulari had one tackle.
NFLSU Score: 3/10
Texans 20 at Chiefs 10
If you want to know who to bandwagon in the NFL playoffs for LSU purposes, the Houston Texans are an easy pick, They have established themselves as the best defense in the league, and two Tigers are a huge part of that.
Danielle Hunter had four tackles and a pass breakup. You know who else had a pass breakup? Derek Stingley Jr. It was kund of a big deal because it came on a 4th and 1 from the Chiefs’ own 30 that immediately led to the game-winning touchdown.
Stingley had two tackles, while recent acquisition Damone Clark had one. The Texans also have Jalen Mills back on the active roster, as well as Ed Ingram being one of their most consistent offensive lineman. Watch him (RG #69) put up a wall against the blitzing LB on the go-ahead TD here.
There’s not a lot of Tigers among the big playoff contenders, but almost all of them are in Houston.
NFLSU Score: 8/10
Eagles 19 at Chargers 22 (OT)
Donte Jackson had one tackle, thress pass breakups, and one of the approximately 37 interceptions Jalen Hurts threw Monday night.
Andre’ Sam made his first tackle of the season.
NFLSU Score: 5/10
