The Los Angeles Rams (2-2) will host the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 5, previewing a likely Super Bowl LXI matchup. Both teams are quarterbacked by recent MVP winners and feature strong offensive minded head coaches.
When these two teams faced off in 2024 at SoFi in Week 14, it was a track meet! The Rams prevailed 44-42 despite six touchdowns from Josh Allen. The Rams are currently -3.0 favorites to win according to FanDuel sportsbook odds. Can they prevail again against Josh Allen,
who is on pace for 30 rushing touchdowns? Are we in line for another offensive shootout between these two teams? Here are my NFL predictions for Monday Night Football Rams-Bills.
1. Puka Nacua & Davante score four touchdowns
With the Bills secondary lacking any sort of star player, the Rams savvy route runners should break free early and often against the Bills secondary. If Drake Maye can score points on the Bills, I expect Matthew Stafford and Co. to do so too!
2. No field goals by either team
The Rams know that the only way to beat Josh Allen is by scoring touchdowns. With the Rams special teams issues, Sean McVay is going to win or lose this game on his offense and defense. Meanwhile, Josh Allen and the Bills are a team that can execute 4th & short distances based on their 75.0% 4th down conversion rate.
3. Aaron Donald collects first sack
Josh Allen will be slippery to bring down but no man is better suited for the job. Donald has notoriously started slow in his seasons to collect sacks. Week 5 sounds right for him to get on the board finally.
4. Rams muff punt on special teams
The Rams changed special teams returners when they waived Xavier Smith before Week 4. Alex Bachman was then promoted to be the team’s new punt returner. Unfortunately, I did not see much to seem convinced he will be the solution to the team’s never-ending problem.
5. Rams-Bills combine for 70+ points
It may not be the 86 points that the two teams combined for in 2024 but I think both teams will easily get to the 70 point total. Bills 36 – Rams 35 with the Bills opting for a two point conversion to seal the win.
