We’re months away from when the Yankees usually have their midseason malaise, but if they have one this year, then we got a little preview this week. They had every chance to win their fourth-straight series to open the year, but dropped the last two against the A’s at home, both contests decided by one run. In fact, all four of the team’s losses this year have come by just a run. It’s frustrating in the moment, but it’s probably a good sign in the grand scheme of things; if the team can keep pitching
this well, their offense will eventually start hitting, and some of these close games will start going their way.
The Yankees are back at it in Tampa today, and Sam has you covered with a preview of the three-game set with the Rays, while Peter goes through what you may have missed last night with the Yankees’ rivals. Also, Nick profiles Bob Watson as part of our Yankees birthday series, and John looks at what was happening in the baseball world the last time we sent astronauts to the moon, to commemorate the splashdown of Artemis II later today.
