Beşiktaş’ move for Bayern Munich’s Alexander Nübel has been quietly rumbling behind the scenes and now seems close to completion. The former Schalke 04 goalkeeper, with a contract until 2029, has been told to find a new club before preseason and he looks to have chosen the Turkish giants.
However, the move is not perfect yet and could even collapse before the end of the day. Journalist Florian Plettenberg reports (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) that Nübel still demands a compensation package from Bayern:
Full agreement reached between Bayern and Beşiktaş over Alexander Nübel. Fee: €6.5m fixed plus €5m add-ons. Nübel has also agreed personal terms with Beşiktaş until 2029.
However, there’s still no agreement between Nübel and Bayern over the termination of his contract. The two parties are currently negotiating a compensation package. The issue must be resolved tonight, otherwise there’s a risk the deal would collapse.
BFW Analysis
Why should Nübel receive a compensation package for the termination of his contract when Beşiktaş are paying a transfer fee for the termination of his contract? Presumably, Beşiktaş’ wages will not quite match those Bayern were due to pay him until 2029 as per his current contract and the German goalkeeper is being forced out rather than choosing this move completely due to his own volition, so he may feel entitled to compensation.
Honestly, if that is the case, Nübel has a point. He has done nothing wrong and has three more years left on his contract. He deserves the money he would have received. Hopefully it can all be figured out before the deal collapses.
