We’re continuing to monitor the Tyran Stokes recruitment, as there are rumors circulating that Stokes could make a decision at tomorrow’s McDonalds All-American Game.
Stokes, the top-ranked player in the 2026 class, is reportedly deciding between Kansas and Kentucky. Kentucky was thought to be the leader in his recruitment back in the fall, but the momentum cooled for one reason or another, and Kansas seemed to take the leader spot. However, Stokes didn’t commit to Kansas when many thought he was a lock
to land in Lawrence, and Kentucky is now viewed as a contender once again, especially with Bill Self’s future as head coach of the Jayhawks uncertain.
There has been speculation that an announcement could come at the McDonalds game tomorrow, but this recruitment has had a lot of twists and turns, so there’s no guarantee that Stokes makes an announcement. However, an announcement has to come at some point, so tomorrow is worth keeping an eye on.
In other news, the men’s college basketball Final Four is set, with Michigan and UConn clinching the final spots yesterday.
Michigan and Tennessee battled for the first ten minutes of the game, but after that, the Wolverines dominated, outscoring the Vols 31-10 over the final ten minutes of the first half and cruised to a 95-62 win.
UConn and Duke gave us one of the wilder games of the tournament. Duke led by as many as 19, and held a 15-point lead at halftime. However, the Huskies stormed back and a late turnover on Duke’s final possession led to a 35-foot desperation three by Braylon Mullins that went in with less than second remaining to give UConn the win.
The Final Four matchups are now set, with Illinois taking on UConn and Arizona taking on Michigan.
Will Brad Underwood lead Illinois to the national championship game for the first time in over 20 years? Will Danny Hurley play in the national championship for the third time in four years?
Can Tommy Lloyd lead Arizona to its first championship game appearance since 2001? Will Dusty May reach his first-ever national championship game?
This year’s Final Four is setting up to be a good one.
