The United States Men’s U-20 National Team are in the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup as the winners of Group E. Despite losing to South Africa in their final group stage match, the USA had
enough on goal differential to hold off South Africa to finish first in the group and move onto the knockout stage.
They face an Italy team that beat Australia, drew Cuba, and lost to Argentina. That was just enough to finish as runners-up in Group D and set up this clash in Rancagua. The United States have made it to the quarterfinals in each of the last four U-20 World Cups, and they’re hoping to get back to that point with a win over Italy this afternoon. It won’t be easy, as Italy’s defense only allowed 3 goals in the group stage. The United States will look to increase their production to that of what we saw in their first match against New Caledonia and the last 10 minutes of their match against France.
