Over the course of the past year, wrestling fans have become accustomed to WWE, its subsidiaries and partners running shows the same day AEW and its allies have events.
Sun., Sept. 20 in the greater Chicago metropolitan area, Lucha Libre AAA will host a Worlds Collide show in Rosemont, Illinois’ Allstate Arena. Worlds Collide events have typically involved multiple WWE brands, but the press release — which is mostly focused on fall Raw and SmackDown dates — doesn’t mention offer too many specifics
besides the date and location.
It’s the same date AEW set for All Out, the 2026 edition of which will start at 7 p.m. central time about 20-30 minutes away in Hoffman Estates at NOW Arena.
Though it happened a few times last year as well, this move would seem to indicate this is our new normal. AAA and NXT events will take place the same days as AEW’s biggest show of the year, All In Aug. 30 at London’s Wembley Stadium, and NXT held its Great American Bash event on The CW on the same day as last month’s Forbidden Door PPV.
WWE hasn’t set-up events in the same market on the same day as AEW PPVs in the past, however. Which makes us wonder what other tactics we might see in this escalating wrestling war…
