The Washington Wizards have acquired Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert. The move was initially reported by Shams Charania of ESPN.
Young is currently averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists for the Hawks. However, even though the Hawks have a 17-21
record overall, good for 8th in the Eastern Conference, they went 15-13 without Young because he sat out much of the season due to injury. First, it was for a right MCL sprain, and now for a right quad contusion.
Young is a highly decorated player. He is a four-time All-Star from 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025 and made the All-NBA Third Team in the 2021-22 season.
McCollum spent the first part of the 2025-26 season with the Wizards after getting traded to Washington from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Jordan Poole. He averaged 18.8 points per game for the Wizards in his appearances. Kispert was the Wizards’ first round pick in 2021 and has averaged 10.9 points per game in his career, including 9.2 points per game in the 2025-26 season.
