Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Baseball!
After a season-opening loss to Mount St. Mary’s two weeks ago, Mizzou Baseball has bounced back nicely as Kerrick Jackson’s Tigers have won seven out of their last eight games.
On Wednesday afternoon, Missouri improved to 7-2 on the young season with a 5-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Freshman starting pitcher and St. Louis native Luke Sullivan delivered 5.1 scoreless innings allowing just one hit and five
strikeouts — continuing the strong performances under new pitching coach Drew Dickinson.
Missouri trailed 1-0 in the Bottom of the 6th inning, but a clutch grand slam from Mateo Serna with two outs gave Mizzou a 4-1 lead.
Pine-Bluff threatened in the Top of the 8th inning, but a key strikeout from Ian Lohse stranded the bases loaded.
While Mizzou still has a long way to go to become competitive in a high-level SEC, there are early signs that this will be a much-improved season in year three under Kerrick Jackson.
Up next for Missouri is a three-game weekend series vs North Dakota State at Taylor Stadium starting on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. CST. The Bison were picked to finish fifth in the Summit League preseason poll.

“Opening the season on a Thursday night in CoMo is becoming a great tradition for our program,” head coach Eli Drinkwitz said.
The tradition continues!
Missouri’s last four games were another pad the win column; and showcasing the pitching rotation which has been stacking five‑inning starts like clockwork thus gar and giving the batters in the lineup a claustrophobic’s favorite thing. Room to breathe.
This is certainly a recipe for success.
The meet is set to be held on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26-28 at Texas A&M’s Fasken Indoor Track & Field complex in College Station, Texas. With the SEC’s programs top ranked athletes set to race at the competition, it will be a stacked field.

Then up next is on the road at Mississippi State who just might be down their 2nd leading scorer. I think if Missouri can win that game, they’re a virtual lock for the NCAA Tournament regardless of what happens next week. Things can always happen, but a 10 win team in the league with the wins they have will have an awfully good case.
Job is not finished quite yet. Beat Mississippi State in Starkville on Saturday.
They are sending the fans a clear message: this lineup and pitching staff is ready for anything.
Perhaps Mizzou Baseball can surprise some people this season.
