Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reportedly asked his club to make one last effort to try and land Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
The Catalans have been linked with the Argentina international all summer but Atletico remain adamant that he is not for sale and will stay with the club.
According to Jijantes, “Flick has asked Barça not to give up on Julián” just yet and “has requested one last push to try to sign” the Argentina international.
Alvarez has been back at Atletico this week after his exploits
at the World Cup and has reportedly told manager Diego Simeone he wants to leave for Barcelona.
The striker is now expected to have a meeting with Atletico chief Gil Marin next week to talk about his future. Marin has previously spoken about Alvarez and has accused Barcelona of “disrespecting his club” and also insisted he has no intention of selling the forward.
Yet with time ticking away in the transfer market, Barcelona need a resolution to this long-running saga, particularly with Ferran Torres set to join Robert Lewandowski in leaving his summer.
