Things aren’t going right for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Their season reached a new low on Sunday as they lost to the struggling Charlotte Hornets 119-111 in overtime.
The fans are understandably getting restless. The effort isn’t there, the team isn’t making enough shots, and they aren’t living up to their expectations for this season. This has led to the fans booing the team multiple times this season, including at the end of overtime on Sunday after the team failed to register a single point in the five-minute
period.

Mitchell has heard the boos, and he doesn’t blame the fans for voicing their displeasure.
“I was a fan once, I’d boo us too,” Mitchell said. “We’re not playing well. The city deserves better than what we’ve been giving them.”
Sunday was a rare off night for Mitchell. He registered just 17 points on 6-24 shooting. One of those misses was a potential game-winning mid-range jumper at the end of regulation. It was an uncharacteristically bad game for Mitchell, who’s been playing at an MVP-caliber level this season.
To blame the loss on Mitchell would be foolish. The team isn’t playing good enough basketball to consistently win the games they should. Even with the injuries, they aren’t performing up to their skill level.
“No one is feeling sorry for us,” Mitchell said. “I wouldn’t feel sorry for us. So the only way to get out of this is by us doing it as a group together. And I know it’s cloudy and I know it’s dark and I know we’re getting booed, and we deserve it. We deserve it. Our play hasn’t been stellar, but as long as we continue to stay together in this locker room, we’ll be alright.”
