Ryan Garcia’s father and trainer Henry Garcia sat down with Fight Hub TV to discuss their ongoing media feud with the retired Terence Crawford and his trainer Brian McIntyre. When asked about what the beef between them and Team Crawford is, Garcia shared some of these thoughts.
Henry Garcia on their beef with Terence Crawford and Brian McIntyre
“They’re haters, man. And I don’t know why. I used to like Crawford and I never said anything about the coach or anything because I respect all coaches…Even Teo’s dad, I can say hi to him. I can even say hi to Devin Haney’s
dad. But once you start attacking my boy, I’m sorry, bro, now you’re going to get the worst of me.
“So, he called my son a name, so I’m going to call him a name. His name is Big Mac. He looks like a Big Mac and I don’t respect him because he’s kissing Crawford’s ass, and Crawford hates Ryan, so he hates Ryan. Ryan’s going to defend himself and I’m going to defend my son.
“So it’s like, okay, what are we going to do about it? Are you going to come out of retirement? Because as far as I’m concerned he fought more guys out of their prime than anybody else. And you know it, you can look at the record…So fight somebody like Boots, even Ryan at ‘47, or why don’t you fight Benavidez if you’re that bold and you’re the sleeping giant or whatever.
“So if you want to talk the smack, Big Mac, fight Benavidez or come down to ‘47, which he won’t ever do…They can hate, I heard [Crawford] was in the training camp with Conor Benn, he went to visit him — that’s fine, they have every right. Of course. But to hate? Why are you hating on my boy?”
