The Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos are turning Week 6 into a throwback party.
Seattle announced Tuesday that it will wear its popular 1990s-inspired throwback uniforms when it travels to Denver for a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Broncos. The Broncos will also wear throwbacks, creating a rare double-retro matchup between two franchises with plenty of history dating back to their days as AFC West rivals.
Seattle’s look will feature the familiar royal blue jerseys, silver pants and silver helmets, while Denver will go with its orange jerseys and blue helmets inspired by its 1977 team, which reached the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
And yes, Seahawks fans have already seen this matchup in these uniforms.
Seattle wore its throwbacks for the 2024 season opener against Denver at Lumen Field, and Mike Macdonald’s first regular-season game as Seahawks head coach ended with a 26-20 victory. That game is one of the four wins Seattle has recorded in seven throwback appearances since the uniforms returned in 2023.
The throwbacks debuted in 2023 against the Cleveland Browns, producing a memorable 24-20 comeback victory after Jaxon Smith-Njigba scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the game. Seattle’s other appearance that season came on the road against Dallas, where the Cowboys won a wild 41-35 Thursday night shootout.
The 2024 season brought the aforementioned win over Denver before a 36-24 Thursday night loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Seattle then wore the uniforms three times during its Super Bowl-winning 2025 campaign. The results were mixed at first, with a 38-35 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before Seattle bounced back with a 38-14 road victory over Washington and a 26-0 shutout of Minnesota.
That brings Seattle’s overall throwback record to 4-3.
Now, the Seahawks will get another chance to improve that mark in Denver. It’s also a particularly fitting opponent given that the Broncos were the team Seattle defeated in the first throwback game of the Macdonald era.
There will be no shortage of nostalgia when these two teams meet under the Thursday night lights. The uniforms will look like the 1990s, but Seattle will be hoping the result looks a lot more like 2024 than some of its other throwback outings.
