Barcelona have confirmed that Frenkie de Jong has been passed fit in time for Thursday’s Champions League clash with Newcastle at St James’ Park.
De Jong picked up a knock on international duty and was sent home early, meaning he missed the win over Valencia last time out in La Liga.
However, the Dutchman is now available once again and makes the squad for the trip to Newcastle.
While De Jong
is on the plane, there’s no room for Lamine Yamal. Barcelona’s teenager is still sidelined after sustaining a problem on international duty with Spain.
He was expected to miss the Newcastle game, with the latest reports claiming he could also sit out Barcelona’s matches against Getafe and Real Oviedo in La Liga.
The hope is that he can return as a substitute against Real Sociedad and then be ready from the start for the clash with PSG in the Champions League.
