The Baltimore Ravens ended their four-game losing streak with a 30-16 victory over the Chicago Bears on Monday. Here are Baltimore Beatdown’s Roundtable Reactions to the team’s win:
John Harbaugh and Zach
Orr outcoached Ben Johnson, Todd Monken and Tyler Huntley led the offense to 30 points, and the Ravens took advantage of some great special teams play. That does not sound like the football team that has been causing headaches and heartaches in Baltimore all season, but it is the one that showed up against the Bears on Sunday.
After a week of tumult and controversy, the Ravens needed this win more than any other in recent memory. Now, they need Lamar Jackson to come back on the field. – Nikhil Mehta
What more could you ask for? A do-or-die game and Tyler Huntley, for the second time in his career, led the Ravens to a victory over the Bears with Lamar Jackson sidelined by injury. Zay Flowers had a strong first half. The run game was strong between all of Derrick Henry, Keaton Mitchell and Huntley. Multiple guys came up with big catches between Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins, and Charlie Kolar. Tyler Huntley was fantastic as well and should be handed Cooper Rush’s contract to be the permanent QB2. The defense held strong despite some early moments and showed massive improvements. The blitz packages won consistently, they forced a turnover, and they hit the Bears all day long. On to Thursday, hopefully with Lamar Jackson — Zach Canter
With their backs against the wall, the Ravens put forth an inspired defensive performance that helped fuel a 30-point outing and convincing victory. Zach Orr schemed his best game of the season against a talented Bears’ offense. Tyler Huntley helped give the Ravens’ offense some much-needed life. After a slow start in the first quarter, the Ravens grinded out yards on the ground and generated some explosive plays that had been lacking over the past few weeks. If the team has any hopes of a second-half turnaround this year, they’ll need to repeat this type of showing and continue to clean up some things along the way. That lift will get a lot easier should Lamar Jackson return to the lineup next week. — Frank Platko
Today felt more like Ravens football. With their season essentially on the line, and the whirlwind of troubles surrounding Lamar Jackson and his practice status, the Ravens played one of their most complete games of the year. QB Tyler Huntley kept the offense on schedule, making timely throws and plays with his legs. On the defensive side of the ball, the Ravens tightened things up after two early scoring drives from the Bears. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the now 2-5 Ravens, but with a win today, the return of their MVP QB, and a favorable remaining schedule, this team might not be done quite yet. — Stephen Bopst
The Ravens desperately needed this win to keep their season alive. I don’t know what was more impressive, the defensive performance against a good Ben Johnson offense, or the offensive output with Tyler Huntley at quarterback.
Defensively, the unit continued the upward trend started against the Rams before the bye week. Zach Orr did a much better job of scheming pressure throughout the game to throw Caleb Williams off. The defense finally came away with a game-changing turnover in a critical moment of the game as well with Nate Wiggins snagging an interception.
Huntley was the story of the game on offense as he led the way with an efficient passing attack while picking up yards with his legs in big moments to extend drives. Seeing running back Keaton Mitchell finally get unleashed to a degree was encouraging as well. Baltimore needs to continue this momentum on a short turnaround against the Dolphins on Thursday now or else this win will mean very little. — Dustin Cox
