With nearly everyone who could be considered a possible “face of the franchise” having been fired, cut or traded away (with the exception of De’Von Achane), I asked the following question:
Who do you believe will emerge as the new “face of the franchise” for our Miami Dolphins this upcoming season? Will it be the new starting quarterback, Malik Willis, or maybe running back De’Von Achane, or new linebacker and assumed future quarterback of the defense, Jacob Rodriguez, or maybe even the new head coach,
Jeff Hafley? Maybe it’s someone I haven’t even thought of, so please let us know who you believe will emerge as the face of the franchise and why.
Below is your take and some of your answers-
Phoenix6 says it’s unquestionable, but I am a rebel and asked the question anyway.
● QB Malik Willis is the unquestioned new face of the Miami Dolphins.
— He signed a 3-yr, $67.5MIL contract to lead a heavily revamped roster.
● HC Jeff Hafley begins a new era with a massive culture shift in South Beach.
— Gone are, Hill, Waddle, & Tago.

Arch Manning
SuperG! makes a solid point. Hafley will have a chance to be the face of the franchise if he establishes a perennially stable, winning franchise.
I seriously have no idea but if the face of the franchise was Haf, then that would be the best case scenario for the Dolphins. Only because it means he’s the next Shula. Players come and go but if you have a HC that lasts, it means you have stability in the franchise. I think the longest tenured HC has been 4 years since Shula was unceremoniously dismissed from the team.
Dave21 would like to see them do it as a team.
The smart move would be the entire 53 man roster. Show unity!!
finfanfromsiam picks a newcomer from each side of the ball.
Malik for the offense. Rodriguez for the D. Leader for each side of the ball.
Molly Polly II is at the forefront of bringing back the “No Name Defense.”
I certainly hope it’s a def player, Rodriguez, Johnson, Chop! I’m ok with the face of our team being the “No Name Defense” 🐬🐬🐬
Phins1972 says we just have to wait to see who emerges.
Right now, the organization doesn’t really have a true face. Sure, the quarterback is usually the default choice, but it’s hard to put Willis in that role when he hasn’t played a single snap for the Dolphins and has only six career starts in four years. Achane is easily the most electric player on an otherwise thin roster, but he’s not exactly a charismatic frontman, and he probably needs a few more standout seasons before he can credibly be considered the face of the franchise.
That’s the cost of tearing a roster down to the studs and committing to a full rebuild. You don’t get to manufacture a franchise figurehead — you have to wait for someone to emerge naturally, earn that status, and carry it with credibility.
Luvs2drnk is going with a veteran from each side of the ball.
As of right now, it’s Achane and Brooks as the only two proven commodities on the team. Don’t really have any confidence anyone else is going to make a significant impact this year to warrant supplanting either of them this year.
MiamiItaliano says it’s Malik until it’s not.
Right now it’s automatically Malik. If he starts f’ing up and Hafley benches him, then it switches to Achane. Hopefully Rodriguez impresses to the point where he’s on the posters with Achane
cyberflea says Willis will have to prove it this year if he hopes to be the future.
Despite Achane being the best player the Dolphins have, it’s the QB that is the face of every franchise which is the single most important position in football. Willis won’t have it easy this season however he has to prove that he is the future. Time will tell if the gamble pays off.
Well, that’s our assortment of comments this evening. No real consensus, with some thinking it will be Willis or Rodriguez, Achane, etc. SuperG! points out that new head coach Jeff Hafley will have a chance to be the face of the team if he can build a track record like Shula’s or that of a comparable coach. If you missed our original post this past week, who would you nominate for the face of the franchise this coming season, and why? As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our Phinsider Question Of The Day.
