FC Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó has publicly revealed he’s in no hurry to leave his boyhood club. Far from it, in fact. In a new interview on Catalan radio, he made it crystal clear: “I want to stay.”
Casadó, 22, has been the subject of transfer speculation in the press, but he has not heard such a suggestion from the club itself.
“If anyone prefers that I leave, they should tell me. If someone tells me it would be better for me to leave, we will have to find the best situation for everyone,” he said.
Casadó is from Sant Pere de Vilamajor, part of the province of Barcelona, not too far from the city. He’s a graduate of La Masia and came up from the youth divisions to the B team to the first team.
He made his breakthrough in the 2024-25 season, and it was expected he’d have an even bigger role last season. However, different factors, including injuries, limited his appearances.
“Last season had its ups and downs. I played fewer minutes than I expected, but that also helped me grow. Obviously, playing more makes it easier to build confidence, match fitness, and chemistry with teammates on the pitch. Without consistent playing time, everything is more complicated. Whenever I did play, I always gave 100%,” he said.
The rumor mill said he was nearing an exit to either the English Premier League, the Turkish league, or the Saudi league. However, the player’s wish to stay, coupled with a possibly major injury to Frenkie de Jong, could change everything.
De Jong’s knee problem has not been officially confirmed publicly, but there are reports he could be missing multiple months. If that is the case, Casadó‘s chances of staying to help plug the hole in midfield could be increasing exponentially.
