Louisville’s players and staff didn’t have to wait too long after the bracket reveal to get some bulletin board material for Thursday afternoon’s first round contest against South Florida.
During the team’s media availability on Monday, USF leading scorer Wes Enis was asked what it would mean to pull off an 11/6 upset of a program like Louisville. His response?
“Yeah, I don’t think it’s an upset,” Enis said. “I think we’re the better team. I don’t really care what 11/6 says. I think we’re the better team. So
I wouldn’t really call it an upset.”
Well then.
Enis, who played the past two seasons at Division-II Lincoln Memorial, has emerged as the Bulls’ primary scoring threat in his first season in Tampa. He’s scored 19 or more points in seven of South Florida’s last eight games, and he hit 10 three-pointers on two separate occasions during conference play. Enis is also one of just 23 Division-I players who have made 100 or more three-pointers this season.
Enis is the son of former Penn State All-American running back Curtis Enis, who was the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year in 1997. He also certainly isn’t lacking in confidence.
Well then, I guess … it’s on.
