Bayern Munich has suddenly been linked with a new top target at left wing, and it is Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha — as reported by David Ornstein
in The Athletic:Bayern Munich are exploring a surprise move to sign Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha.
The German champions have been considering multiple candidates to bolster their attack and Ngumoha is their main target for the left side.
Ngumoha, 17, is aware of Bayern’s strong interest and intentions — driven by head coach Vincent Kompany and the board
— although they are yet to contact Liverpool.

Ngumoha is young but full of promise, having made 19 Premier League appearances (29 overall) for the Reds last season at just the age of 17 — including starts in the final three matchdays.
In Ornstein’s report, he noted that Ngumoha ‘was a significant reason’ Liverpool ultimately declined to scour the transfer market for left wing options after Bayern poached Luis Díaz last summer.
However, in the same report The Athletic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce called the notion of selling the youngster ‘ludicrous’ — with Ngumoha in line to become a ‘regular starter’ next season. That makes every aspect of this transfer challenging for Bayern, from convincing the club with an acceptable fee to convincing the player with a better opportunity.
Like Bayern, Liverpool is expected to shop for a winger this summer and that could change the calculus on all sides.
A current snapshot of what Bayern’s attacking options could look like next season — seven players for eight spots on the two-deep, assuming the transfer of PSV attacker Ismael Saibari goes through:
Left wing:
