The Kentucky Wildcats had a rough Tuesday night as they got drilled by the Michigan State Spartans in New York City. With a lot of negative momentum and noise surrounding the program at the moment, some
positive news would go a long way for this staff and the fanbase, especially if they were to land a commitment.
Well, we now know that it will not be coming in the early signing period.
Mark Pope and his staff have been trending as the favorite for 5-star forward Christian Collins over the last few weeks. While many expected a commitment in the early signing period, Adam Zagoria of Zags Blog has reported that Collins will not be signing until the spring signing period. However, Zagoria did say that Kentucky remains the favorite.
Down to a final three of Kentucky alongside UCLA and USC, the Cats seemingly have all the momentum. However, similar to several recruitments we have seen in the Pope era, the longer it drags on, the more traction other schools begin to gain.
Now, the staff will enter the winter without a single commitment in the class of 2026. With plenty of big names on the board, including Collins, Tyran Stokes, and Caleb Holt, they could round out a top class very easily. But it now becomes a ‘prove it’ situation on the recruiting trail.
