The BroncosRide may be making a comeback.
For years, RTD’s BroncosRide brought Broncos fans from all over Denver to Mile High on gameday. My family and I would drive to Arapahoe High School near my parents’
house, pay a nominal fare, and we’d get a ride to the game where they would drop fans off right at the front doors of the stadium. BroncosRide was terrific because it would zip you to and from the stadium without the hassles of parking, walking, or navigating the dreaded goose poop sidewalks around the stadium.
Then the COVID happened and BroncosRide was suspended.
When the pandemic was over, things began to return to normal, but the BroncosRide did not return. It wasn’t just convenient, but my family, my parents in particular, relied on it to go to games. In their 80’s, it wasn’t just the convenience of door-to-door service, it was also affordable. Imagine their surprise when they paid upwards of $200 to park so they didn’t have to walk a mile into the stadium (goose poop).
A system that had worked so well for years was gone and fans, like my parents, were left in the lurch. My family made the difficult decision, in part, not to renew our season tickets because there was no longer an easy way for my elderly parents to get to games. The hassles of parking, walking, and the damn goose poop were enough to convince them that watching on the couch was easier than the hassles of entering and exiting the stadium… and it was cheaper.
Bringing back the BroncosRide is good for the team and good for the fans. Nothing beats the buzz of a ride home with like-minded fans, listening to KOA after a win.
