Triple-A: Syracuse Mets 11, Norfolk Tides 10
Norfolk carried a one-run lead into the bottom of the ninth, but Syracuse won the game with an RBI triple and a walk-off sac fly. Former minor-league free agent Hans Crouse blew the save and took the loss.
The Tides scored seven runs in the first two innings. Heston Kjerstad launched a two-run homer in the first and plated another run with a single in the second. Kjerstad finished 3-for-6 with three hits, two runs, and three RBIs.
Jonathan Rodríguez went 2-for-5 with a walk. Christian Encarnacion-Strand,
Creed Willems and Ryan Noda also recorded multi-hit nights.
Norfolk starter Chris Kachmar allowed three earned over 3.2 innings. Nick Raquet surrendered a run over 1.2 innings, and Kyle Nicolas coughed up three while recording only one out.
Double-A: Chesapeake Baysox 7, Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants) 1
The Baysox jumped out to an early lead with a five-run first. Anderson De Los Santos got Chesapeake on the board with a three-run home run. Frederick Bencosme followed with a big fly of his own, and Adam Retzbach drove in the fifth run with a single to left field.
Ethan Anderson added a solo shot in the fifth, and De Los Santos worked a walk with the bases juiced in the sixth inning. Anderson, Bencosme, and Tavian Josenberger combined for six of Chesapeake’s 10 hits.
Joseph Dzierwa performed like one of the top pitching prospects in the org. Dzierwa limited Richmond to one run on two hits over six innings. The former second-round pick struck out eight and walked one.
A rehabbing Dylan Beavers finished 0-for-3 with two walks and a run scored.
High-A: Hub City Spartanburgers (Rangers) 13, Frederick Keys 8 F/10
Frederick led this game 8-5 before coughing up three runs in the ninth and five more in the tenth. Bradley Brehmer blew the save and Ryan Cabarcas took the loss.
Before all of the fireworks, Boston Bateman held Hub City to two runs over 5.1 frames. Bateman struck out seven and walked two.
Vance Honeycutt went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Yasmil Bucce and RJ Austin both went deep, but Ike Irish went hitless in four trips.
Low-A: Delmarva Shorebirds 8, Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Cubs) 1
Joshua Liranzo drove in a pair with a triple in the first, and the Shorebirds never looked back in an 8-1 victory. Liranzo finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIs. Jordan Sanchez reached base in all five trips with three hits and a pair of walks. He drove in two and scored twice. Juan Ortega recorded the other multi-hit game for Delmarva. The first baseman finished 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored.
Andrew Herbert pitched into the seventh inning during his second victory of the year. Herbert allowed seven hits but allowed his only run on a solo shot over 6.1 innings. He struck out four and walked two.
