On Friday, the Cleveland Browns announced that they claimed DT Elijah Chatman off waivers from the New York Giants. The Browns had a roster spot open up when they placed LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on the reserve/physically unable to perform list earlier in the day.
As for Chatman, he was an undrafted free agent out of SMU who signed with the Giants in 2024. He had an impressive first camp and made their 53-man roster. A couple weeks later, he registered his first career sack against — you guessed
it — the Browns.
Chatman started 3 games as a rookie and played in all 17 games, logging 21 tackles. He spent most of 2025 on their practice squad, though, and was just waived the other day. Now, he’ll have a shot at a depth role on the Browns’ defensive interior.
