Thursday night’s matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers could end up being a sneaky good game.
The Packers are last in the NFC North. They’re 4-3 with a 3-3 conference record, but only 1-2 in the division. Carolina leads the NFC South at 3-3. They are 3-2 in the NFC and 1-1 in the division after the Buccaneers blew their doors off last week.
These two teams met in Lambeau Field last year, and Carolina won 16-13. It’ll be higher scoring than that, but it won’t be pretty. Both teams are
dealing with multiple injuries at key positions. These offensive lines have struggled.
On a short week, it makes sense for the Packers to give the ball to Josh Jacobs and do what the Buccaneers did to the Panthers last week. Bucky Irving ran wild, and Tampa Bay did what it wanted. The game was such a blowout that the Panthers’ starters didn’t play in the fourth quarter.
One area the Packers struggle defensively, though, is against true No. 1 receivers. And Tetairoa McMillan is the epitome of a top receiver. He had 75 yards against the Bears, and 192 yards against the Lions. I think McMillan has a big day for the third straight game against an NFC North squad, and the Panthers pull off the upset for the second year in a row.
