Oregon men’s golf are winding up their fall slate of events, and spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Twin Warriors Golf Course in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM, at the Notah Begay III Match Play.
Notah Begay III is a Navaho professional golfer who is one of the few indigenous American golfers to have played in the PGA tour. Begay has an interesting personal history, having attended Stanford where he was a teammate of Tiger Woods.
This match play was a first for Oregon, and was something of a homecoming for New Mexico native Aiden Krafft. The tournament field was made up of four teams; New Mexico, New Mexico State, UNLV, and Oregon. It is the first time that the Ducks have played in this tournament.
The match was a round robin match play format, with each team meeting once. A total of five points was available in each match, and winners were determined by total points won over three matches.
There were three rounds overall. The first two rounds were played on Tuesday, and the third round wrapped up today’s play.
