Jonah Kusi-Asare spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Fulham with an option to buy. Initially, he was supposed to remain at Bayern Munich to serve as Harry Kane’s deputy, but a late move for Nicolas Jackson required the Swedish youngster to find a different home for that season. He eventually chose North London, but between his manager Marco Silva very blatantly admitting the former Sweden U-21 international was not ready for the Premier League and a whole host of strikers ahead of him in the pecking
order, Kusi-Asare played very few minutes in England’s top flight.
However, Marco Silva has departed for Benfica, former Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa is heavily linked with joining the club while striker Raùl Jimenez is moving on to pastures anew. This is a new chance for Kusi-Asare to impress. Furthermore, Fulham did see potential in the 18-year-old. So Bayern and Fulham reached an agreement to send the former AIK Fotboll player back to England on a permanent basis, as confirmed by Bayern’s official website:
After spending the previous season on loan at Fulham, 18-year-old FC Bayern striker Jonah Kusi-Asare has now completed a permanent transfer to the English Premier League club. The Sweden U21 international had joined the FC Bayern Campus in early 2024.
Max Eberl, FC Bayern board member for sport: “Jonah joined Bayern at the age of 16 and is a further example of how we develop international talent at the highest level. He was able to impress the people at Fulham last season, so he will now be setting his sights on his next goals there. We wish him all the best for the future.”
Kusi-Asare worked his way through the U19s at the FC Bayern Campus up to the reserves and eventually the first team, where he made two competitive appearances. He was part of the squads that won two Bundesliga titles and the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
Fulham’s website provided some additional details:
The Club is delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Jonah Kusi-Asare from Bayern Munich.
The 18-year-old has joined for an undisclosed fee on a five-year contract, with a Club option to extend by a further 12 months.
Kusi-Asare told FFCtv: “I’m very happy to be a permanent Fulham player. From my first week here, it was very good – I felt like I was a part of the Fulham family.
“The changing room was very nice, team, staff, so I’m very happy to stay here.”
[Fulham’s Director of Football Operations] Tony Khan added: “I’m thrilled to welcome Jonah Kusi-Asare to Fulham on a long-term contract.
“We believe that he is a very talented young player with massive potential and a bright future, and we’re very happy that Jonah is joining the Club permanently now following his time with us on loan. Come on Fulham!”
Kusi-Asare demonstrated a lot of promise in his 10 First Team appearances last season, and was prolific when called upon for the Under-21s, scoring four times in just five appearances, averaging a goal every 92 minutes.
Good luck at Fulham, Jonah. Perhaps your future yet includes a return to Munich.
