The Lakers aren’t just finding success in the win-loss column. They have tremendous chemistry on and off the court.
Los Angeles celebrated Adou Thiero’s first basket like it was a game-winning play, Luka
Dončić is dancing like no one is watching and Deandre Ayton is constantly grinning during interviews and doling out hilarious responses.
After the Lakers blew out the Jazz, Luka talked about the best way to keep the good time going is to keep the main thing the main thing and win their games.
“I mean, honestly, just keep winning games,” Luka said. “That was the first practice we had, yesterday, where we had all the guys available. It was kind of amazing. Everybody was happy, everyone was joking around. But we’re in a good place. Everybody was there, so we just got to work. We got to go game by game. We got Utah again. We can’t let go and just keep building this chemistry and this thing.”
Winning can solve everything. It’s cool to joke and kid around if everyone is taking care of business on the floor. The Lakers are doing just that and everything seems copacetic.
Not only are the vibes good, but the Lakers are on a winning streak and fully healthy for the first time this year. That means things can get even better for Los Angeles as they get used to playing together.
“When we log more minutes together and we create that kind of unspoken chemistry on the court, we’ll know exactly where to be, when to be,” Austin Reaves said after the win over the Jazz. “Especially with types of coverages that they’re running at those guys, we can get really, really good at that.”
For the first time in ages, the Lakers are building out a culture. Head coach JJ Redick is in his second season in charge and we see that his team will work hard, be held accountable, but also have some fun.
When you combine that with talent, extraordinary things can happen.
