Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has a big decision to make on his future in January after losing his place in the starting XI to summer signing Joan Garcia.
The stopper isn’t thought to be too
keen to move on but will be well aware he could lose his spot as Germany’s No. 1 goalkeeper before World Cup 2026 if he is not playing regularly.
Girona have been mentioned as one possible destination for Ter Stegen, and the German is now said to be open to a move to Michel’s side.
Reporter Nil Sola has told Jijantes that talks have taken place: “On Saturday things looked very good. It was a matter for Barça that Ter Stegen had communicated that if he stayed he wanted to be paid and if he came to Girona he would forgive a lot of the salary. Barça would have to pay him a part and Girona another.”
Sola went on to add: “There have been conversations with Míchel and he is open to coming.”
Michel has already said he’d love to have Ter Stegen but his large salary will be a problem. However, it does appear that the goalkeeper may be willing to make a switch if all three parties can find an agreement that suits all.
