Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has completed his loan move to Girona and will spent the rest of the 2025-26 season with Michel’s side.
Ter Stegen was left out of Barcelona’s Champions League squad to face Slavia Prague and underwent a medical with Girona on Tuesday.
The transfer has now been announced, with the Germany goalkeeper moving on in search of regular game time.
Barcelona are paying the majority of Ter Stegen’s salary while he’s at Girona and have also inserted a “fear clause” in his deal so he won’t feature when the two sides meet next month in La Liga.
Hansi Flick spoke about the goalkeeper at his press conference today and said it’s a good move for the stopper.
“Ter Stegen has said he’s going to Girona. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper. It’s the right decision, and I wish him all the best,” he said. “He’s a fantastic person and a great goalkeeper. He has a good chance of making the World Cup. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that he goes to Germany.”
Good luck at Girona, Ter Stegen!
