The Cincinnati Bengals’ draft plan now shifts quite a bit as the team traded its first-round pick for former Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence. That doesn’t mean they can take their eye off the ball with the rest of the draft.
The team still has both of its Day 2 selections, and there will be crucial decisions throughout the entire draft, even on Day 3.
One player they may be looking at is Kentucky offensive lineman Jager Burton. Burton revealed he had an official visit with the Bengals via an interview
with Sports Illustrated.
“I had Top 30 visits with the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, and Tennessee Titans. I’ve probably met with all 32 teams via Zoom calls. I’ve done a couple of teams more than once [virtually]. I’m fortunate to be in this situation. Even those teams I made in-person visits with, we met on Zoom as well,” said Burton.
Right now, Burton projects as a Day 3 pick. He played all three interior offensive line positions at Kentucky, but many are projecting him as a center at the next level.
Cincinnati’s Ted Karras isn’t getting any younger. He is 33 and will be 34 when the next offseason begins. Cincinnati would be wise to add some youth behind him, not only for depth but also as their next starting center.
Burton might not be that, but considering the picks the Bengals have, he could be in the competition.
