Cardinals History By The Numbers
While the unofficial rules of the “history by the numbers” posts (that I just made up on my own accord years ago) clearly state that I should avoid recognizing current players in these posts, I’ve already broken my rule this year with Nick Keller, so if we’re swimming in the waters of broken rules and broken records….why not add one to the mix that embarrasses our rival?
You see, not long ago the Cards were on a slow decline after a promising start to the 2025 season and were entering a game against
their rival, the Kentucky Wildcats, heading in the wrong direction. Three losses in November was surprising, and losing to UK to finish the year with four losses was squarely on the table with Isaac Brown, Keyjuan Brown, and Duke Watson out of the game, as well as leading WR Chris Bell. Oh boy.
Before you could say “Stoops Troops” two freshman in Shaun Boykins Jr (#89) and Braxton Jennings (#46) dropped over 100 yards rushing on Kentucky, each, and added a touchdown to the scoreboard in a 41-0 beatdown. A guy who walked on to the team (Jennings), and a guy who was recruited as a wide receiver (Boykins) both dropped a Benjamin on Kentucky. This was the largest margin of victory for Louisville in the series, and the first shutout since 2004.
I would typically say something here like “feel free to checkout the highlights below” but we already know what you’re gonna do…..you’re gonna watch those highlights.
