What is the story about?
Bayern Munich’s 5-4 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League was devastating to many fans, but there still is a second leg to this tie where the Bavarians can potentially secure a trip to the UCL finale.
However, before anyone can fully move on, we need to discuss how this went wrong. What was the biggest reason you think things did not work out for Bayern Munich? Here are a few options:
- Inefficiency around the net: Bayern Munich had a lot of chances, but did not take advantage of all of them.
- A broken backline: It was never going to be easy, but it seems as if Bayern Munich’s defenders had an even harder time than many of us would have anticipated.
- The referee: The letter of the law stated that it should not have been a handball call on Alphonso Davies, but the spirit of the game left no doubt that it would be whistled that way after a VAR review. Once Davies’ arm extended away from his body and his hand hit the ball, the official rules — right or wrong — went out the window.
- Individual letdowns: Not everyone had a great game. Some people would point to Josip Stanišić, Alphonso Davies, Jonathan Tah, Jamal Musiala, or Manuel Neuer as having a negative impact on the squad.
Was it all of those? Any of those? Something else? Tell us in the comments below!
