NFL Week 8 Power Rankings: Colts jump, Commanders tumble | PFF
1. Kansas City Chiefs (No change)
Chance of making playoffs: 84%
Chance of winning Super Bowl: 13%
The Chiefs cruised to a 31-0 victory over the Raiders in their first early Sunday game of the season, securing their first regular-season shutout of the Andy Reid era. The win marked the return of Rashee Rice, who caught seven passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns, to the lineup. Rice’s availability is another positive sign for a Chiefs offense
that continues to hark back to former iterations in previous weeks. The early-season rust is wearing off, and the Chiefs are third in EPA per play.
Kansas City Chiefs: Buyers
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has never hesitated to make trade-deadline moves to improve his contending teams, with the most recent example coming last season when he acquired veteran DeAndre Hopkins to help a depleted receivers room. Though the Chiefs are one of the few super-healthy teams in the NFL, a defensive-line upgrade would make sense, with our Dianna Russini reporting last week that’s the position the Chiefs have been targeting. — Jesse Newell
2025 NFL trade deadline: Ranking top 25 players who could move | ESPN
3. Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets
The buzz: Hall is pacing for 1,000-plus rushing yards in a contract year and could be a focus for multiple teams seeking tailback help. He has said publicly that he wants to stay with the Jets, and the injury to backup Braelon Allen could prompt the team to keep him. The Jets value him as a key contributor if they can somehow turn the season around. But with New York sitting at 0-7, moving players could be inevitable. — Fowler
The tape: He’s a fluid mover with good contact balance and the vision to find daylight, and he brings a dual-threat element to the backfield. Hall has 171 receptions in his career. He also has 75 rushes of 10 or more yards over 3½ seasons, so he’s a three-down back with big-play juice. — Bowen
Predicted chance of getting traded: 35%
Team fits: Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans
Red Friday Raises $1 Million For Ronald McDonald House Kansas City | The Mothership
Members of the Chiefs Community Caring Team, including LB Nick Bolton, LB Jack Cochrane, and Vice President of Community Impact and Civic Affairs Anne Scharf, visited Ronald McDonald House Kansas City today to make the formal announcement of the total amount raised and visit with youth and families at the House.
Through a partnership with McDonald’s, the 12th edition of the Red Friday flag – featuring head coach Andy Reid’s signature phrase “How ’bout those Chiefs” – was sold in all Kansas City- and St. Joseph-area McDonald’s locations and Kansas City Hy-Vee stores for a minimum donation of $5. For the ninth year in a row, flags were also sold online for $10 and available for domestic and international shipping.
With this year’s donation, more than $7.5 million has been directed to assisting Ronald McDonald House Kansas City as they reduce the burden of childhood illness on children and their families by providing a “home away from home” while the children are receiving medical care in Kansas City-area hospitals. 2025 NFL QB Power Rankings Week 8: Mahomes is back; Bo Nix is Captain Comeback | FOX Sports
Previously ranked: 3
Kansas City Chiefs
The dominant Patrick Mahomes we saw at the beginning of his career as a starter? That’s been back on display as of late, which puts him atop the QB Stock Market for the first time since Week 1.
The two-time NFL MVP got No. 1 wide receiver Rashee Rice back this past week after a six-game suspension to start the season. And Mahomes’ connection with Rice was the big takeaway as he carved up the struggling Raiders for 286 yards and three touchdowns (two to Rice) with no interceptions in just three quarters.
Jayden Daniels injury: Commanders QB out for Week 8 vs. Chiefs | SB Nation
The Washington Commanders continue to lose offensive playmakers to injury and this week they’ll be without their key offensive playmaker, quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels was forced from their Week 7 game against the Cowboys due to a hamstring injury and now will miss their Monday Night Football matchup with the Chiefs, per Ian Rapoport.
Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota will take over this week, much as he did earlier in the season when Daniels missed time with a knee injury. Mariota started in Week’s 3 and 4, winning against the Raiders and losing a close one to the Falcons. In those games, Mariota finished with 20 and 17 fantasy points. His rushing ability showed up as he rushed eight times for 80 yards and a touchdown in the two games combined. On a week with six teams on bye, Mariota should have some fantasy value despite a tough matchup with Kansas City.

NFL moves the Pro Bowl Games to Tuesday of Super Bowl Week in event’s host city | CBS Sports
This season, that’s the Bay Area, and after moving the Pro Bowl from its longtime home in Hawaii to Las Vegas and Orlando in recent years, the annual showcase of (most of) the league’s best will now travel to the Super Bowl host site each year.
“Building on our strong partnerships with the Bay Area host committee and ESPN, we’re thrilled to make the 2026 Pro Bowl Games presented by Verizon part of Super Bowl week, our biggest platform of the year, elevating flag football and our best players in a way that’s never been done before,” Peter O’Reilly, NFL executive vice president of events, international and club business, said. “The Pro Bowl Games will not only be an exciting showcase of our best talent, but also a taste of the elite athleticism and dynamic action we can expect to see on the Olympic stage.”
Commissioner Roger Goodell: Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show not being reconsidered | NFL.com
Goodell addressed the Bad Bunny controversy at his news conference following the annual Fall League Meeting. It is the first time he has commented on the move announced in late September that garnered worldwide attention, including an increase in streams of Bad Bunny’s music, along with backlash.
“It’s carefully thought through,” Goodell said. “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”
The 31-year-old born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio has been vocal in his opposition to Trump and his policies. He decided to do a 31-day residency in Puerto Rico, avoiding stops in the mainland U.S., citing concerns about the mass deportation of Latinos.

Chiefs Mailbag Week 8: Assessing wide receiver and defensive tackle
AZDiamond75 asks:
Will the Chiefs make a trade adding to the defensive line this week? Defensive tackle was a huge need before. With Omarr-Norman-Lott going down, it’s now s pretty much a certainty.
After the rookie defensive tackle suffered his season-ending ACL tear on Sunday, there were many questions about his position. It was already (arguably) the spot with the least depth. Defensive tackle should now top the Chiefs’ wish list.
Presumably, Kansas City will call up one of its three defensive tackles from the practice squad for Monday. Veteran Marlon Tuipulotu drew the elevation in the two games Norman-Lott previously missed (Weeks 1 and 5). I suspect the Chiefs will use his third and final elevation on Monday. Whether he plays significantly more than the six defensive snaps he saw in his last appearance may reveal if he has a shot at a permanent spot on the 53-man roster.
As for the other in-house options, the Chiefs should want to see what they have in Zacch Pickens and Brodrick Martin — the 64th and 96th overall selections of the 2023 NFL Draft, respectively.
