Good morning, baseball fans!
Another week of San Francisco Firebells baseball is in the books, so let’s take a look at how they did and see what’s on deck for this week.
First up, the Firebells defeated the Boston Hunters 14-6 on Friday. Kelsie Whitmore got the start for the Firebells, allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and a walk in five innings. She also got another home run in this game, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored and two walks as well. Skyler Kaplan (RF) popped
off on offense as well, going 4-for-4 and scoring three runs. Andreanne Leblanc (1B) also scored three runs (with no hits, to boot!). Joely Leguizamon (SS), Jua Park (3B) and Jordan Eyster (CF) each knocked in two runs as well.
Rolling right along, the Firebells defeated the New York Heights 11-9 on Sunday. It was a pretty great come-from-behind win for the Firebells, as they entered the seventh inning trailing 9-4. But they rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to score seven runs and take the win! Niki Eckert pitched four innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Liz Gilder pitched three innings, allowing three unearned runs on two hits with a strikeout and two walks. Leblanc led the team on offense this time, hitting a grand slam for her first home run of the season!! She led the charge on the seventh-inning rally that handed the Firebells the win.
This upcoming week will be the last week of the regular season before playoffs start the following week. Here’s what’s on deck for the Firebells this week:
