After we learned about unexpected death of Benjamin Satterley — better known as AEW’s PAC and WWE’s Neville — last night (Sept. 27), there was understandably speculation about the 40-year-old’s passing among pro wrestling fans struggling to process the loss of another star gone way too soon. That there wasn’t more of it was a sign of how highly PAC was thought of throughout the wrestling community.
We’re now getting the first reports with details about Satterley’s death, but what those reports contain
seems unlikely to answer anyone’s questions.
TMZ reports Satterley was found “was found unresponsive inside a car outside an Illinois restaurant shortly before he was pronounced dead”. Their report is largely based on audio obtained by the New York Post from an emergency dispatcher, which says that customers called 911 after seeing someone “passed out” in a vehicle.
The restaurant was the Des Plaines location of Mediterranean food chain CAVA, per the Post’s story. That’s what this excerpt is from as well.
The patrons looked for any sort of medical equipment inside the CAVA to try to help the wrestler before emergency personnel arrived.
“There was an ambulance, police and a fire truck, all outside,” the witness said.
A spokesperson for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office told The Post on Monday Satterley was pronounced dead at 4:08 p.m.
Both outlets confirm that cause of death will have to wait for the results of “additional testing”. TMZ says the Cook County Medical Examiner told them an autopsy was performed today, but that a determination on cause and manner of death “could take several weeks”.
