Yes, we are just about ready to kick things off for Week 1 of the 2026 National Football League season at U.S. Bank Stadium, as our Minnesota Vikings are ready to begin their campaign by hosting the 130th regular season edition of the Border Battle against their NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers. Three Keys
1) Start Fast – The crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium should be in a frenzy in this one, and the Vikings need to give them a reason to stay that way. If they can get off to a fast start against what should be an overmatched Green Bay defense, things could get out of control for the visiting team in a hurry. On the other hand, if the Vikings get off to a slow start and let the Packers hang around, it could be rough sledding.
2) Get After Jordan Love – The Packers are already having issues on the offensive line with injuries, and you know that Brian Flores is going to be looking for ways to take advantage of that. If the Packers can make Jordan Love uncomfortable, they can force him into some bad throws and, hopefully, force some turnovers along the way. Even if they just keep some pressure on him, they can keep the Packers’ offense behind the chains.
3) Win On Special Teams – We know that Will Reichard is great and is pretty much in range from 60 yards and in, but this is the NFL regular season debut for punter Brett Thorson, who will also serve as Reichard’s holder. It will be interesting to see how he handles things, and hopefully he’ll be able to step into the shoes of Ryan Wright, who handled both of those roles incredibly well last season. In what looks to be a close game, special teams could be the difference maker, and the Vikings should have the advantage there.
