Next up in our 90-in-90 series is wide receiver JaQuae Jackson!
The Basics
Height: 6’1
Weight: 184 pounds
College: California PA/Rutgers
Experience: 2
Jackson starred at Serra Catholic High School in Pennsylvania and coached by Jose Regus. After not receiving a ton of attention as a prep prospect, Jackson chose to continue his football career at California University of Pennsylvania (DII).
While playing for the Vulcans, Jackson redshirted in 2018 before finding his first stretch of playing time in 2019. As a redshirt freshman,
he started three games while playing in eight total contests, finishing with 13 receptions for 198 yards and two scores.
The COVID pandemic took away his 2020 season but he returned in 2021 to set new career high across the board with 58 catches for 744 yards and eight touchdowns. That season was his first step towards his eventual explosion during the 2022 season for the Vulcans.
In what woul end up being his final season at the DII level, Jackson erupted for 77 receptions, 1,178 yards, and 13 touchdowns en route to earning Honorable Mention All-American, First-Team All-PSAC West, and D2CCA Second-Team All-Regin honors.
After seeing what he could accomplish at his current level, Jackson then chose to transfer up to a Power 4 school and finish his career at Rutgers. During the 2023 season, Jackson hauled in 22 passes for 361 yards and one touchdown.
The Good
Jackson played well enough to earn a place with the Chargers in 2025 after failing to stick with his original team. He caught a single pass for 13 yards from former quarterback Taylor Heinicke during the lone preseason he’s been with the Chargers.
At his pro day, Jackson ran a 6.85 in the three-cone and a 4.14 in the short shuttle which shows he’s got the type of agility and lateral movement to stick his foot in the ground and create separation.
The Bad
Despite finding his groove and producing in his final two seasons at California PA, that level of play did not transfer with him when he opted to play for Rutgers in his final season. The dropoff in production was vast and likely showed he was not capable of hanging with the cream of the crop.
2026 Outlook
Jackson impressed the Chargers enough to earn a spot on the practice squad during the 2025 season. However, the team brought in a handful of new receivers this offseason, including Devonte Ross and Sincere Brown as UDFAs. JaQuae will have his work cut out for him to remain a stash on the practice squad as his experience in the prior offense no longer gives him a leg up on new additions.
