On 95.7 The Game, NFL analyst Ross Tucker said this about the San Francisco 49ers:
“In the coming months, people will appreciate what the 49ers accomplished… To win on the road, with those injuries, against the defending Super Bowl Champs. There will always be disappointment, but this was a very successful season.”
Making the playoffs after everything the 49ers went through made it a successful season. Winning a playoff game in the Super Bowl champions’ house was the cherry on top.
Robert Saleh wasn’t
hired as quickly as he was to be a head coach if the NFL wasn’t impressed by the job he did in 2025. Klay Kubiak getting multiple head-coaching requests in a season when the backup quarterback played as often as he did tells you what the league thinks of the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree.
After everything you watched this season, what was the biggest win for the 49ers? It doesn’t necessarily have to be a victory. Moreso, something they can hang their hats on moving forward?
For example, Upton Stout at nickel feels like a big win. You could see the rookie grow up as the season went along, and make a strong case that Stout was the best defensive player on the roster in the second half.
The Niners tied for a conference-best 9-3 record. If it weren’t for the other two teams in the division, San Francisco’s +66 point differential would have been even more impressive than it is.
The offense being as highly rated as it was without a No. 1 receiver or battling through various injuries has to be up there. It tells us that if they do solidify some spots like left guard or wideout, they can be even better in 2026.
