MLB Trade Rumors: Jo Adell is heading to the Cleveland Guardians from the Anaheim Angels, and Taylor Ward is joining the Seattle Mariners from the Baltimore Orioles, per reports.
Adell, 27, was the Angels’ first round pick — 10th overall — way back in 2017. He’s not exactly excelled in his career, having put up an OPS+ better than 2026’s 93 just once, last year, when he had a 115 OPS+. He has mashed lefties the last two seasons, however, putting up an OPS over 900 against southpaws both years. He’s also
under team control for 2027, though with a 2026 salary of $5.6 million, he’d likely be looking at a salary in arbitration of around $8 million, and thus is potentially a non-tender candidate.
Ward, 32, shared the outfield with Adell until this year, having been a first round pick of the Angels in 2015. Ward, who is a free agent at season’s end, spent his entire career with the Angels until being traded to Baltimore this past offseason in exchange for Grayson Rodriguez. Ward has a .246/.383/.346 slash line this season.
Its interesting that Seattle is buying, given that they are a half-game behind Texas, who appears to be throwing in the towel.
