Just a couple hours before midnight and the deadline for withdrawing from the NBA Draft, Michigan State’s All-American point guard announced he would be coming back for another season in East Lansing. Jeremy Fears Jr. certainly used up about as much of the clock as possible before finally announcing his decision.
For Tom Izzo, the MSU Basketball Team, and Spartan fans around the world, this is a massive score, even if it was believed by many that it would play out this way. Personally, the closer
to the deadline this got, the more nervous I was getting. Either Fears was intentionally trying to build the drama or he was truly having a hard time making this decision.
Now that we have this behind us, we can officially start looking forward to the 2026-27 season. Michigan State will have one of the top candidates for preseason player of the year in Fears, the most athletic player in the nation in Coen Carr, a 7’2” center in Anton Bonke, a plethora of experienced talent on the wings with Jordan Scott and Kaleb Glenn and Kur Teng, depth in the front court in Cam Ward and Jesse McCulloch, and one of the best incoming classes with Carlos Medlock, Jasiah Jervis, Julius Avent, and Ethan Taylor.
The Road to the Final Four (in Detroit) is paved in Green & White.
