Bruno Guimaraes has been repeatedly linked with Manchester City because of the never-ending praise from Cityzen manager Pep Guardiola, but Newcastle have control over their captain’s future and it’s unlikely he departs in the summer.
The Brazilian midfielder is valued at around £100m and remains under contract until 2029, making it hard for anyone to pull off a transfer for the Newcastle captain.
“Bruno is Newcastle’s talisman, their emotional tone-setter and pivotal to the way they play,” The Telegraph’s
Luke Edwards said. “He has been superb for Howe and is unquestionably Newcastle’s best signing since the takeover in 2021.”
Although speculation has circulated for several seasons, no formal bid has materialized.
“Interestingly, Newcastle have not received a bid for the midfielder in that time,” Edwards said.
His relationship with supporters remains influential, but Bruno’s age—he’s already 28—might push him to chase a future outside of Tyneside in order to win titles before it is too late.
“His deep connection with the city and the supporters is a powerful bond, and it is not thought he would agitate to leave,” Edwards said. “There will come a time when Bruno is sold, but it does not look like happening this summer.”
