Michael Morales is notoriouslyone of the biggest welterweights on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) roster, but he may be biting off more than he can chew ahead of his interim title fight opposite Carlos Prates at UFC 336 this coming January.
It’s no secret that Morales walks around at an incredible weight as a 170-pound fighter. When the undefeated contender isn’t prepping for a fight he bulks up to well over 200 pounds. This always leaves Morales with a tough weight cut and it appears that he’s
doing the same thing once again ahead of his first official UFC title shot.
On Friday, Morales shared a photo on social media just three months out from UFC 336 and he looks like a damn heavyweight. In fact, Morales revealed that he currently weighs 220 pounds, which is big enough to compete in UFC’s heavyweight division. Morales will have a full camp to shed that weight, but maybe he’s doing himself a disservice by starting so big.
Check it out below:
Morales, 27, will meet Prates in UFC 336’s co-main event on Jan. 30 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Ecuadorian contender will put his undefeated 7-0 UFC record on the line in an attempt to claim interim gold and lock down a matchup with current UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev sometime next year.
