With the conclusion of Detroit Lions OTAs and minicamp last week, all will be relatively quiet for an entire month. But right around the corner is training camp, and on Monday, the league announced report dates for all 32 teams
.For the Lions, rookies will report to camp on July 25 and veterans will follow them three days later on July 28. In the past, the first training camp practice is the day after veterans arrive. So you can expect the first Lions training camp practice at or around July 29.
The league also announced all of the joint practices that will happen, and, as expected, the Lions are not participating in any. This year, the Lions have opted not to hold any joint practices, because Dan Campbell believes their usefulness has worn out and they can get more work done on their own.
“I felt like we got two really good years of it, man, like, we’re really getting something out of this. And then as it kind of went on, we got into that third year, whatever that was, or ’24, I don’t know, it just felt counterproductive, man,” Campbell said at the owners meetings this year. “It didn’t feel like we were getting what I thought we would get out of it and part of me was like, I think we would have gotten more – we’d have gotten an extra practice and we’d have gotten more done had we just gone against ourselves.”
So, instead, the Lions will hold about a month of practices at their own facility in Allen Park, combined with their three scheduled preseason games.
At this time, there is no available information on which days of training camp will be open to the public, nor can you get tickets right now. Last year, those dates were announced on June 17, so they could be coming at any moment.
