“Remember The Name” (still) wants to get better.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad, suffered a unanimous decision loss to No. 6-ranked Ian Garry in UFC Qatar’s
main event last night (Sat., Nov. 22, 2025) inside ABHA Arena in Doha, Qatar.
Following the defeat, Muhammad addressed his fans, sharing his post-mortem thoughts via social media.
“We couldn’t get it done,” Muhammad wrote. “Thank you Doha for the memories Thank you to my team and family and friends that are with me no matter what, and Thank you to anyone that’s with me … Alhamdillah for everything I’m blessed to be here …we have work to do.”
Muhammad (24-5) has now dropped back-to-back fights for the first time in his career. However, both losses came against top-tier competition: Garry and Jack Della Maddalena in his first Welterweight title defense.
As a result, he finishes 2025 winless.
The 37-year-old had hoped a victory over the undefeated Garry would put him back into title contention, but now the path forward seems even more complicated. A move to another division (like this) or reconsidering his future in mixed martial arts (MMA) may soon enter the conversation. That said, his losses have come against some of the division’s elite, so his credentials remain strong.
With UFC’s Welterweight division on fire right now (literally), Muhammad may need to set his sights on a high-profile grudge match to regain momentum — a dorky showdown with Kamaru Usman could be the most logical next step.
Just please, no more Epstein jokes.
