One storyline that has never gone away this offseason for the New Orleans Saints has been what is happening with franchise great Cam Jordan. His contract was up after last season, and after the deadline to stop his dead cap hit passed, it felt like a return was not going to happen. Still, whenever the contract conversation came up, the Saints made it clear that an offer had always been on the table. On Jordan’s side, after just having a double-digit sack season, getting a contract that would be close
to representing that was important, but from the Saints’ side, Jordan’s age and last season potentially being a late-career outlier stopped them from doing that.
Late Monday night, fans received a positive update that Jordan would be visiting with the Saints today to discuss a new contract, per The Set with Terron Armstead
What a turn of events. As Armstead mentions, this meeting does not mean Jordan will sign with the team, but it is the first public sign of development towards the two sides moving forward together. Clearly, they both want to come to an agreement on a deal to bring Jordan back to finish his career with the Saints, but someone will need to budge in these discussions.
If the Saints and Jordan are able to find an agreement, it’s going to be very interesting to see what Jordan’s role on the team will be. After a busy offseason, the DE/EDGE group has some new names, including Anfernee Jennings and Tyree Wilson, and Kaden Elliss will be used in the OLB role. Jordan may have to be fine with a reduced role in 2026, but if he can maintain the momentum from last season, that role will increase over the course of the season.
Time will tell what happens with Jordan and the Saints, but at least we know a meeting is scheduled.
