The DePaul transfer is looking for eligibility to play this season at Missouri.
I’ll be honest, when I first caught win of Gunn enrolling at Mizzou, and I looked into it a little, I was really skeptical he’d be able to pull it off. Mainly considering the single factor that he made the decision to sign and play with a Pro team in Canada.
But yesterday the suit was filed, and our resident lawyer, @DataMizou, was able to get his hands on it and give it a full review:
You can read his full breakdown of the case on theforums at Rock M+. But I’ll add here that reading his analysis and breakdown, it’s a way more compelling case than I expected.
I still think he has some hurdles to clear, but he’s be an immediate help as a starter level player. Not quite the add that Mark Mitchell is, but still high quality.

Let’s start off with Football, since that’s what’s at the top of everyone’s mind, and Matthew Gustafson started the coverage yetserday with what the Mizzou front 7 has to look forward to with A&M QB Marcel Reed:
Now, Mizzou faces a different type of test: Texas A&M’s dual-threat quarterback Marcel Reed.
“They’re both great runners,” linebacker Nicholas Rodriguez said, “Marcel is a great quarterback as well, so that adds another element to it — he could throw the ball as well. He could beat us with his arm and his legs. So we’ve just got to be fundamentally sound and execute our game plan.”
The Aggies’ signal caller averaged nearly six yards per carry on five rushes last year in Columbia when Mike Elko’s squad dispatched MU easily on its way to a College Football Playoff berth.
Reed was a different QB last season, he’s really struggled to make the throws he made last year. But he’s still capable of finding the mojo he had last year. So best to just keep him on the mat.
- STOCK RISERS ONLY when you BTFOO Florida, but Jason Dowell is surging, and with good reason:
His snap count has been on the rise this season, with the number hitting the 30s in the past three weeks. Against Florida, he played a career-high 34 defensive snaps, 25 coming in pass rush situations per PFF. He finished with a sack and three pressures, one where he drove the Gators’ center straight back into Aaron Philo’s pocket early in the fourth, forcing the junior to check down, resulting in an incompletion. More importantly, the impact in the run defense was noticeable, forcing Jadan Baugh to bounce a couple of runs outside, where they were stopped immediately.
I feel like it’s important to have guys like Dowell on your team. A combination of a guy who loves playing at your school with a passion or zeal for playing the game. Dowell loves being a Tiger, and loves playing football. I hope he just keeps getting better.
- Race for the CFP from Sammy, still no Mizzou, but if you keep winning… :
The Missouri Tigers were the talk of College Football’s Week 5 after their 45-17 win over previous No. 8 Florida. With the win, Mizzou moved up 11 spots to No. 14 in the latest AP Top 25 poll — keeping their CFP hopes alive.
Keep stacking wins!
- Q&A With GBH’s Robert Behrens:
In simple terms, it’s all a matter of which versions of these teams show up. If we get the Mizzou we saw against Florida and A&M we saw against Kentucky/LSU, it could get ugly. But Mizzou has had their own lulls/issues, and A&M, despite the record, is showing improvement, especially along the offensive line that was breaking in four new starters to begin the season (and has seen a shuffle even since then).
I’ve known Robert almost since I’ve started blogging and he’s one of the good ones. He’s smart, and funny, and even on the hellscape that is Twitter / X, he’s one of the better follows. I hope Mizzou makes him miserable tomorrow, but after that I hope he’s happy the rest of the season.
- Mizzou XC is prepping for the SEC Championships, from Sophie:
Wanjiku’s breakout campaign began almost immediately upon arriving in Columbia in 2025. As a freshman, she quickly established herself as Mizzou’s top distance runner, earning All-SEC First Team honors, All-Midwest Region recognition and becoming just the second freshman in program history to earn Cross Country All-American status after placing 35th at the NCAA Championships.
She carried that momentum seamlessly into the track and field seasons, setting personal bests and etching her name into the Missouri record books.
BASKETBALL PREVIEWIN’
SEC Previews sprang up yesterday with #16 Mississippi State:
Last season I picked Mississippi State to go 8-10 in the conference but almost as a joke if I’m being honest. That’s just what the program had done to that point. I even quipped that Jans was intentionally putting together worse and worst rosters to increase the degree of difficultly on reaching that 8-10 mandate.
But the reality was last year’s roster wasn’t very good and there just wasn’t enough support for the number one guy, Josh Hubbard.
We’ve previewed the entire Non-Conference slate, and now the SEC team previews have started with more to come. Plus…
Data Mizzou is still previewing hoops over on Rock M Plus, moving into the defense:
Mizzou’s recent struggles on the defensive side of the court are also notable since they run counter to Dennis Gates’ apprenticeship in Tallahassee. Leonard Hamilton was known for teams with brute force and defensive brilliance. The Tigers learned firsthand in a tournament game when their future leader sat on the Seminoles bench in 2018. That Florida State team slowly squeezed the remaining life out of Martin’s group and closed the book on Michael Porter Jr.’s abbreviated tenure. Something they did on a regular basis.
