Former Boston College forward Andre Gasseau agreed to a two-year, two-way entry level contract with the San Jose Sharks.
Gasseau was originally selected in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins. The team held his rights until they were traded to the Sharks on June 18 along with the 120th selection for the 104th and 157th picks. Gasseau had until August 15 to sign before he became an unrestricted free agent.
The 6-foot-4 forward spent the last four years with Boston College. His
senior campaign was cut short due to a hand injury that required surgery but Gasseau made his mark as a leader for the Eagles.
Gasseau finished with 30 points as a junior after back-to-back years with 29. He ends his career with 111 points, 43 goals and 68 assists, in 135 games played.
Even if Gasseau begins in the AHL or ECHL, there is a chance that he earns consistent playing time for the Sharks. He enters the league as a forward who can play on the wing or in the middle. This will be valuable for a young team looking to return to the postseason.
