The Mariners dropped another massive stinker in yesterday’s 7-0 loss to the Astros. The good news is that we’re less than a week from the end of this disappointing season.

- The Red Sox have committed to keeping manager Chad Tracy and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow through at least 2029.
- The Mets have agreed to a three-year contract extension with manager Andy Green.
- The Yankees do not expect superstar outfielder Aaron Judge to be available during the Wild Card round.
- Michael Baumann at Fangraphs wonders if the Yanks have what it takes to be successful in the postseason without Judge in the lineup.
- The Cubs are not planning to place third baseman Alex Bregman on the injured list after he suffered multiple fractures in his face from a foul ball.
- The Rays have released former Mariners outfielder Jake Fraley.

- Paul Skenes blamed the World Baseball Classic for his declining velocity in 2026. As long as players continue to participate in the tournament I’m going to remain skeptical that they sincerely believe any of this.
