Bayern Munich is back in action this weekend, and its star players escaped the international break unscathed (well most of them, anyway). The Bavarians travel to the Black Forest to play SC Freiburg, who sits well outside the European spots but is likely still pushing for it.
Location: Europa-Park Stadion, Freiburg, Germany
Date: April 4, 2026
Kickoff: 3:30 PM Local time | 9:30 AM EST | 6:30 AM PST
TV/streaming: ESPN+, Find Your Country
Team news
With several absences due to injury and suspension, here’s how we
think Bayern will line up for the match
Lineup changes:
- IN: Manuel Neuer, Jonathan Tah, Tom Bischof, Lennart Karl
- OUT: Jonas Urbig, Dayot Upamecano, Leon Goretzka, Harry Kane
Player status updates:
- Harry Kane, ankle (out)
- Nicolas Jackson, red card suspension (out)
- Cassiano Kiala, knee (out)
- Wisdom Mike, hip (out)
- Sven Ulreich, groin (out)
Three things to know about Bayern:
- For only the second time this season, Harry Kane will miss a Bundesliga match through injury. The Englishman sat out the 4-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach early last month.
- Should Bayern score at least four goals in this match, they have officially equaled the goalscoring record from 1971/72 with six games to spare. It is likely that the record will be surpassed next week away to St. Pauli.
- Bayern’s last meeting with Freiburg was a 6-2 win at the Allianz Arena. Bayern went 2-0 down after just over 10 minutes played but roared back into life to blow their opponents out of the water
Three things to know about Freiburg:
- Freiburg won their last match in the Bundesliga: a 2-1 victory over St. Pauli thanks to a brace from Igor Matanović
- Freiburg, who is usually a tough opponent for Bayern, hasn’t won against them since a 2-1 win in the DFB-Pokal in 2022/23. Similarly, they haven’t beaten the Rekordmeister in the league since May 16, 2015.
- Indeed, Freiburg has only won five of their last 54 meetings in all competitions with Bayern.
Prediction: Bayern wins 3-0 with goals from Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl, and Luis Díaz.
