This week in Barcelona land has mostly been dominated by the talk of Marc Casadó’s potential exit amid the midfield congestion and the club’s financial struggles, but Hansi Flick decided to put an end to all the noise.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the coach was asked about the rumors of Casadó’s possible departure, with several clubs interested and the club willing to accept offers of €30 million or more if the player decides to leave in search of more playing time.
But Flick decided to
send a strong and decisive message: Marc Casadó doesn’t want to leave, and Hansi wants him to stay.
“I’ve spoken to him, and he doesn’t want to leave. And I want him to stay. It’s going to be a difficult season, and we need all the players we have right now. He gives us confidence, and that’s what I want from him. It’s not easy for the coach. We want to achieve a lot of things, and that’s why we need all the players.”
That’s as clear as it gets. Barça want to go one further than a domestic treble, and they’ll need all their midfield depth to survive and thrive this season. Marc Casadó is part of that, he wants to stay, and he coach wants him to stay too.
Case closed, surely.
